ALBANY - The whereabouts of a crew member missing from a cargo ship that docked at the Port of Albany over the weekend remain unknown.

"Workers on a lot of those ships are immigrants and don't have visas and aren't allowed to come off the ship," Albany Department of Public Safety spokesman James Miller said Monday.

When the ship's captain took a head count Saturday and came up short, crews searched the Hudson River for the man, thinking he may have fallen overboard. They found nothing, leading them to believe the man jumped ship and is on land.
