Yes, Virginia, there is a way to do some serious power shopping while relaxing and enjoying the good life. How, you ask?

Several downtown Boise hotels are offering special holiday shopping packages for people want to do their shopping in the city, and then stay and play for a while without worrying about rushing home.

The Hampton Inn & Suites, 495 S. Capitol Blvd., 208-331-1900, is offering a weekend Shop Til You Drop holiday package through Dec. 31 that includes rooms for up to four people, a gift bag featuring a $25 Downtown Boise Gift Card, coupons and promotional items from downtown merchants, hot breakfast buffet, a 2 p.m. late checkout time and access to all of Hampton's amenities, including wireless Internet, fitness facility and indoor CoolPooi(TM) and hot tub to name a few. Rates range from $104 to $114 per night and are subject to availability.

Hotel 43, 981 Grove St., 208-342-4622, is featuring a Shop and Stay boutique holiday package that includes a one-night accommodation for two based on availability, and a discount card for participating shops offering a 10 to 20 percent discount. Wake up with a complimentary newspaper at your door and stop by the Metro Cafe for an espresso. At day's end, relax and unwind with a martini and stylish dining at Chandlers Steakhouse of Sun Valley fame. The boutique experience is priced at $109 per night. Valid through December 30.

Leku Ona Basque hotel, 111 S. 6th St., 208-345-6665, in the heart of the Basque Block, is a small boutique, European-style hotel that offers modest prices with all the warmth and comforts of home. Andoni Artiach, whose family owns Leku Ona, or the "Good Place," said they are not offering any specific holiday packages, but will offer $5 off the room rate for anyone who mentions this article. Room rates range from $65 to $85. Artiach said that the hotel's namesake restaurant next door will feature a five-course family-style Basque Christmas dinner which includes soup, paella, entrees, non-alcoholic beverages and dessert.

The Safari Inn Downtown, 1070 W. Grove St, 208-344-6554, is offering a Downtown Holiday Special package through Dec. 30 that includes rooms for two, a complimentary $25 Downtown Boise Gift Card that can be used at over 250 merchants downtown, and access to all the hotel's amenities such as a complimentary deluxe breakfast, high-speed Internet, complimentary evening cookies, outdoor spa, exercise room, free airport shuttle, in-room amenities and a 1 p.m. checkout. The hotel is completely non-smoking, and the cost of this holiday package is $84 per night.

The Modern Hotel, 1314 W. Grove, 208-424-8244, has a Modern Holiday package that includes a room for up to two people (not including suites), complimentary fresh breakfast pastries, juice and espresso; wireless Internet and other inroom amenities, plus complimentary hors d' oeuvres and one cocktail per person for each night's stay. Cost of the package is $98 per night and is valid now until Dec. 30. Also, you might ask for the in-room massage and spa therapy treatment. This service is not included as part of the holiday package, but guests on the package will receive a special 15 percent discount on the service. Please give 48 hours notice to reserve your in-room massage.

Grove hotel, 245 S. Capitol Blvd., 208-33-8000, is offering a special Weekend Shopping Package for two people valid Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The Grove's amenities including evening turn-down service, in-room coffee service, laundryA/alet services, wireless Internet and terrycloth robes. The rate for this package is $79 per night. The Grove is also offering a Hockey Lover's Package, with rates ranging from $130 to $160 per night. It includes one hockey ticket per person, standard room accommodations, and hotel taxes.

The Owyhee Plaza hotel, 1109 W. Main St., 208-343-4611, has packages including The Welcome Break, which includes a deluxe room for two, two welcome cocktails in the Gamekeeper Lounge, two complimentary appetizers, breakfast for two in the Plaza Grill and two movie tickets. Room rate is $129 per night, plus tax. The Grand Retreat_package features a deluxe room for two, two welcome cocktails in the Gamekeeper Lounge and dinner for two in the Gamekeeper Restaurant for $159 per night, plus tax. The Ultimate Indulgence includes a deluxe room for two, two welcome cocktails in the Gamekeeper Lounge, dinner for two in the Gamekeeper Restaurant, breakfast for two in the Plaza Grill and two movie tickets for $199 per night, plus tax.
